And in it had the goosegirl.
and i've never heard of that story as a kid, and i can kind of see why, it's pretty morbid.
in the end the 'hero's ' servant gets stuffed in a barrel with nails sticking in and she gets rolled down the hill until she's dead.

Read Shannon Hale's version of the story, it is absolutely spectacular and spans a series of 4 books. The original story is shown within the first book, but she brings so much more to the table. It is a lovely series, The Books of Bayern.
